A positive influence gaming had on you? I would have to say the most positive influence gaming has had on me is that feeling you get after crushing someone. Whether it's in Madden or after that twenty kill streak in Call of Duty 4. it is just nice to know I am better than you.
Game reviewed: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Positives: First off, I have to give a shout out to all the OG's (Original Gamers) out there. I am talking to those who remember blowing into those games just to get 'em to work! Those who actually remember stepping foot into an arcade. You know who you are. Now that I have paid my respects, let's talk about Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. If you are familiar with the Star Wars universe, the game takes place between
Episodes 3 and 4. You assume the role as an apprentice for Darth Vader. I have to tell you, the Force is strong in this one. Vader will send your character on different missions throughout the galaxy only armed with a light saber and force powers. And that is all you need. This game is not your typical hack'n'slash. You are able to use force powers to solve puzzles and saber combos never get old!
Negatives: Camera, camera, camera! Even though you can control the camera, it never seems like you have control over it. It's not a total loss, but sometimes it felt like simple tasks were unnecessarily tedious. The game's length was a letdown also. Experienced gamers could probably get through the entire game in about 8-9 hours.
Overall I give it 2.5 out of 4. If you are a serious Star Wars fan give it a go. Story is interesting but the length and camera issues ruin an otherwise good time.
Final Thought: Thanks Larry for the great review! I remember when blowing on the game wasn't good enough. You had to blow through your shirt to get it to work! Amazing how well that worked. Oh...and by the way, who has your Championship Belt for WWF No Mercy?
I have some exciting news! Martin Library will be renting out Wii games in 09'! Thanks to your feedback we have decided it's time. Please email any title suggestions you would like to see in the collection.
