New Hours for West Regional Library
Effective Friday, July 10, 2009, West Regional Library will no longer be open 9AM to 9 PM on Fridays. The new Friday hours will be: 10AM - 6PM.
The Wake County Commissioners recently passed the 2009-2010 budget. As a result, the library system book and electronic resources budgets will be reduced by 26% or approximately $800,000. Bookmobile service is also being cut from two vehicles to one vehicle. Additionally, all libraries will be reducing hours. As a result, some libraries will also experience a reduction in staffing levels. At West Regional Library, the staff will change from 24 full-time equivalent staff members (FTEs) to 22.5 FTEs. We will do our best to not let this affect service to our customers. The hours that were reduced (Fridays) are those utilized least by our customers. This was determined via hourly door counts.
Please check the library website at www.wakegov.com/libraries before visiting other library branches as their hours will also change beginning Monday, July 5, 2009.
Questions? Please ask any library staff member.
Library Holiday Closings
All Wake County Libraries will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, 2009 in observance of Independence Day. The drive-up book drop for book returns will be open.
