Grandma Hale's Peanut Butter Cookies 3/4 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup Crisco® 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar 3 tablespoons milk 1 tablespoon vanilla 1 egg 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon salt 3/4 teaspoon baking soda I added chocolate chunks to these cookies–-a little over one cup. Combine peanut butter, Crisco®, brown sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed with electric mixer until well blended. Add egg. Beat just until blended Combine flour, salt and baking soda and then add to creamed mixture at low speed..Mix just until blended. Add the chocolate, if you want. Drop by heaping teaspoon 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. (I use parchment paper) Flatten the cookie. Dip a fork in flour and criss-cross to flatten the cookie dough. Bake at 375 for 8 minutes, then usually I turn the pan around and bake 2 minutes longer, or until just beginning to brown. | |
