***Please Note*** In case of inclement weather, the libraries will close only if the schools in the respective communities are closed.

Every Saturday- Get Propped Up on Reading- special story time at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library at 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome. Call 778-4766 for more information.

Every Monday- Home School Story Time- Stories, crafts, and fun for children who are home schooled at 2 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library; open to all ages. Call 778-4766 for more information.

All Month- The artwork of Carol Anna Fullerton Samsel will be displayed through January in the meeting room of the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. An art reception will be held January 8 at 5 p.m. at the same location. Call 501-778-4766 for more information.

1st- New Year's Day- The Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library and the Bryant Library will be closed in observance of New Year's Day. Both locations will close at 5:30 p.m. New Year's Eve and will reopen at 9 a.m. January 2.

5th- Benton Teen Advisory Board (TAB)- Ages 13-16; monthly meeting at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library from 4-5:30 p.m. This month will feature Elvis!!! trivia, music, and donuts. Call 501-778-4766 for details.

5th- Master Gardeners- Master Gardener Connie LeBlanc will present a program regarding pruning at 6:30 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Call 778-4766 or 303-5672 for more information.

6th- Bryant Watercolor- Carolyn Voss will lead a class for beginners interested in watercolor at 6 p.m. at the Bryant Library. This month's theme is scratchboard work. Registration is required by calling 778-4766 or 847-2166.

7th- Computers Part I- Brad Crumby will lead this basic computer class for beginning computer users ages 18 and older at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Please register by calling 778-4766 or 847-2166.

8th- M&M Mania- Children ages 5-12 are invited to participate in activities centered around M&Ms at 3:30 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Please call 778-4766 for more information.

8thArkansas Governor's Calendar Reception- Saline County artists featured in the Governor's calendar will be on hand to discuss their works and sign their pages in the calendar at 5 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Calendars will be available for purchase. Call 501-778-4766 for more information.

10th- So You Think You Can Write- Teen writer's guild will meet from 1-3 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library (at the back of the adult fiction section) to critique each other's writing; open to ages 13-18. Call 501-778-4766 for more information.

12thWriting Family History Workshop- Author Marilyn Collins will present a writing family history workshop from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. This is not a guide to completing a genealogical chart but a user-friendly guide to writing the story of people listed on the charts. 12thBryant Kids Advisory Board- The new Bryant KAB  is open to ages 10-12 and meets monthly to plan and encourage community involvement, participate in book discussions, and create fun projects. This meeting is from 4-5 p.m. at the Bryant Library and will feature ice cream and snow making. Please call 847-2166 for more information.

13thPuppet Players Practice- Ages 10-18 are invited to join the Puppet Players group, which will meet at 4:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month for practice and perform on the third Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. Please call 778-4766 for more information.

15thAuthor Signing- Arkansas author Barbara Youree will discuss and sign Courageous Journey: Walking the Lost Boys Path from the Sudan to America at 5 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Please call 778-4766 for more information.

15thGenealogy Help- Steve Perdue will be available for genealogy help from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-5:30 p.m. at the Bryant Library. Please call 778-4766 for more information and to reserve a time. He is available for genealogy help the third Thursday of each month at the Bryant Library.

19thMartin Luther King Jr. Day- The Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library and Bryant Library will be closed Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Both libraries will reopen Tuesday, January 20 at 9 a.m.

20th- Puppet Players performance- The public is invited to watch a puppet show performed by the Puppet Players at 4 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Please call 778-4766 for more information.

22nd- Sea Glass Jewelry- Alma Joyce Hahn will teach a class for adults 18 and older on creating sea glass jewelry at 1 p.m. at the Bryant Library and at 5 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. 26th- Creative Outlet- Teens can make scratch art calendars from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library; open to ages 13-18. Call 501-778-4766 for more information.

26th- Chinese New Year Craft- Children of all ages are invited to make and take a Chinese New Year craft during regular library hours at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Please call 778-4766 for more information.

26th- Movie Monday- Children ages 7-12 are invited to the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library at 4 p.m. to watch a children's movie. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Please call 778-4766 for more information.

27th- Teen Knitting- Pat Struble will lead a beginning teen knitting group for ages 13-18 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Bryant Library. No experience is necessary, and materials will be provided. Please register by calling 847-2166 or 778-4766.

A Book to Read

The library staff has read and reviewed many books for you. Now, we would like you to do the same. Send us a review of a book that you think other readers will enjoy. Reviews should be at least 250 words and no more than 450 words. Submit "A Book to Read" review by emailing it to administrator@saline.lib.ar.us. All submissions are subject to approval before being published.
