North Shelby Libarary presents Brown Bag Lunch Series...


The North Shelby Library is now presenting a Brown Bag Lunch Series.  Brown Bag Lunch programs are ongoing throughout the year and are held in the library meeting room at 12:00 p.m.  Programs typically last one hour unless otherwise noted.  Please bring your lunch, we provide the drinks and dessert.

We value your suggestions as we create the programming schedule for upcoming months.  Please let us know if there is a specific topic or interest that you would like to see highlighted in a program.

AUGUST 2008:

•   Tuesday, August 19         "Global Warming: A Mother'sPoint of View"  Join us for a timely presentation by Marca Alexander, a representative from The Climate Project. The program will include a slideshow version of the Academy Award winning film “An Inconvenient Truth”, as well as a discussion and opportunity for participants to ask additional questions. The Climate Project began operating in 2006 with the purpose of increasing public awareness of the climate crisis at a grassroots level. September 2008:

•   Tuesday, September 23 - "DTV Transition" Carlos Adlay, the local manager of Radio Shack, will demystify the conversion to digital television signal (DTV) .  By law, starting February 17, 2009, full-power broadcasters will stop sending out conventional "analog" television signals.  Mr. Adlay will discuss which televison sets will be affected, how to make the switch, the availability of converter box and how to connect the converter box.  A question and answer session will be included at the conclusion of the program.  For more information about the conversion to  DTV, visit http://www.dtv.gov.
