International Night: Patagonia & Chile 
Tuesday, February 26, at 7:00 pm, Maynard Room
Start your slide show journey at the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, Argentine; then continue on to Tierra del Fuego National Park. Join Sara Drower as she follows the voyages of Magellan, Drake and Darwin sailing around Cape Horn. Along the way, you'll see glaciers, penguins, and the rugged landscape of Patagonia. End this fascinating adventure in Santiago, Chile with its spectacular scenery and home to famed poet Pablo Neruda. Register by calling 847-729-7500, extension 112, or stop by the Readers Services Desk.

Battle of the Books Meets
Monday - Wednesday, February 25 - 27, 4:00 pm
Maynard Room
Last week for pre-scheduled Battle of the Books (BOB) teams to combat. Each team competes in one meet only. Important dates, rules of combat, and the full calendar of scheduled meets are posted here. 

Magic for an Enchanted Evening 
Friday, February 29, at 7:00 pm, Maynard Room

Families will enjoy magician extraordinaire Sean Masterson. Pick up your tickets with a GPL card at the Youth Services desk.

Battle of the Books Celebration Party 
Saturday, March 1, 11:00 am, Westbrook School Gym
Battle of the Books teams enjoy light refreshments and a presentation of high scorers for the honor roll plaque. As a special treat, battlers will laugh it up with storyteller Mike Lockett! For BOB team members only.

Air Station Imagination: Flight-to-Fun Kids Club
Saturday, March 1, 1:30 pm 
The Book Market at Hangar One in The Glen Town Center

The Glenview Public Library and The Glen Town Center partner together to bring you this free event for children, ages 6 and under, to take flight into the wonderful world of literature. Hear the award-winning storyteller, Mike Lockett, well known for his zany sound effects! Stop at the Youth Services Desk at GPL to get a Membership Card for your child today.

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion
Monday, March 3, at 1:00 pm, GPL Conference Room

Group will discuss Broken Trail by Alan Geoffrian. Copies of the book are available at the Circulation Desk for participants to check out. No sign-up necessary. All are welcome!

Glenview Reads Aloud
Monday, March 3, at 7:00 pm, Glen Town Center

Just drop in at the Book Market at Hangar One to hear funny, fearsome, familiar and fantastic stories! For children ages 6 and up. Glenview Reads Aloud on Monday nights, March 10 and 17, too!

Beyond Basics, 3 Session Computer Workshop 
Tuesday, March 4, at 10:00 am, Training Room

Review the basics of navigating the Internet and then go into advanced search protocols. Second and third sessions offered on Tuesdays, March 11 and 18; you must register for all three sessions and have Internet experience. Register by calling the Readers Services Desk at 847-729-7500, extension 112.

Online Accounts Computer Workshop 
Wednesday, March 5, at 2:00 pm, Training Room
Set up and manage your individual eBay account as well as a PayPal account for buying and selling safely online. Bring checking account and credit card information. Attendees must have Internet expertise. Call the Readers Services Desk at 847-729-7500, extension 112, or stop by to register.

Getting Started With Microsoft Word 2003 Computer Workshop 
Friday, March 7, at 2:00 pm, Training Room
Learn the basics of Microsoft's Word 2003 word processing program including opening, formatting, saving and printing a page, and copying/pasting text. Attendees should have basic knowledge of computers and experience using a mouse. Call the Readers Services Desk at 847-729-7500, extension 112, or stop by to register.

GPL Board of Trustees Meeting ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Library Board of Trustees, elected by the residents of the Incorporated Village of Glenview, IL, meets every third Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm. An additional first Thursday meeting, held downstairs in the Maynard Room, will focus on building issues if needed. The third Thursday meeting, held in the GPL Conference Room, will focus on administrative issues. Important information may be discussed at either meeting, regardless of topic. 

The next Library Board of Trustees meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday,  March 6, 7:30 pm, in the Maynard Room. Please verify Board of Trustee meetings via the Glenview Public Library homepage or call the Business Office at 847-729-7500. All GPL Board of Trustee meetings are open to the public. Additional information about the Trustees is available on the library's website at Board of Trustees
