Library Planning 25th Anniversary Celebration

As we get all caught up on a buggy summer of reading, rainy day games, brilliant builders and marvelous mystery solvers the Mays Landing Library still finds we have another full and exciting fall season ahead of us. First and foremost we are pleased to announce our 25th Anniversary Celebration!

Events are all week starting on Monday, September 15th but the big Anniversary Ceremonies are on Tuesday, September 16th with remarks and memories from local dignitaries and community members at 2:00 p.m.

Following will be a delightful afternoon tea and open house for all who attend. Then the celebration continues on Wednesday. Bring in the family and come help us celebrate 25 years with an evening of Irish music, provided by the Ceili Band, dancing and dessert on Wednesday, September 17th from 7pm - 8:30pm.

KIDS Activities Never Stop

The end of summer doesn't mean the end of our kids programs. This fall brings even more activities! Story time continues but we've added a Spooky Story Night, Candy Corn Contest, Halloween Party, Anne of Green Gables Best Friend Tea, Holiday Crafts and Pajama Story Time to name a few. Our Teen Seals program has been very successful and will also continue to meet this fall with more service and activities to participate in. Meetings will be announced.

Fun for Grownups, Too

Since it is back-to-school time the Mays Landing Library is prepared for all your scholastic needs. And for the parents, who now celebrate with some coveted "mommy" and "daddy" time, come in and check out our newest releases or pick up a good movie to relax with.

No time to make the trip? No problem! You can download movies right from your home computer and watch it today. Visit the AudioVideo page on our web site.

For our inquisitive adults, if you haven't stopped by in a while and you're looking for some creative activities to join the Mays Landing Library is still home to a variety of groups that meet regularly and are free to join. Our Knitters Group meets every Thursday at 7pm for all you purly girls.

Adult writers of all levels of experience in the area can join Marge Peirson's group, The Writing Force. They meet every first and third Wednesday of the month at 7pm. If interested call Marge at 609-625-3612 or email her at marge10peirs@yahoo.com. Young writers also have a group with Marge and they meet on the first and third Tuesdays at 7pm.

And what book lover doesn't want to join the Book Club? Stop by or call for info on their next meeting and the current book of discussion.

One-on-one computer lessons with Wolfgang Thompson are still available on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm and 7:30pm. Please call to register.

As we pack up our book bags and our brief cases and head out into the flurry of falling leaves the days may be growing shorter but our perceptions of the world are only growing larger. Give yourself time to grow and learn this fall. Pick up some exciting new literature. Expand your book bag, expand your brief case... expand your mind.
